Thursday, June 17th, 2004[Entry 130]so much easier to stay down there...
guaranteeing your cool...Hey Man! by Nelly Furtado just came up on WinAmp on random. I forgot how great this song is. I haven't given her newer album a chance. I should be mad at myself because of it. I don't think a lot of people gave her a chance because of having to hear I'm Like A Bird 10,000 times on the radio...not to mention how many times VH1 played that radio. Anyway, that cd [Whoa Nelly] helped me deal with heartbreak, so I must respect it. There are two songs in my recent history that have gotten me so amped up, that I either have to dance around my room or jump up and down. One is Hey Man! and the other is Take A Walk (the 7 Worlds Collide version).
So I have a question...
Don't ignore it, answer me...
Should I sell my tape deck? I purchased it back in 1998 for $200. It's a Pioneer. I purchased it for the sole purpose of dubbing tapes for trading. I own a shelf system... which has a tape deck. And I don't even use my stereo...it's unplugged...I use my computer all the time...so that's a good indicator of how often I listen to trusty analogs. It's obviously a good tape deck if I paid $200 for it back in May of 1998. I don't recall paying that much for it...but I put the receipt in the manual. LOL I'm sort of pissed I spent that much! $200 can get you a lot! So will I regret not having a tape deck when I have my own place and I invest in a real deal stereo system? That is my question. I'll probably wind up keeping it.Man, I still can't get over me spending $200 on a tape deck! I was 17. And that wasn't even my first "major" purchase. Let's see...if I can remember my list of purchases...first major purchase after I got a job was a pair of Doc Martens. Then I bought a tv (which I still have, but is in my grandma's basement, a wimpy 19"...haha like my current tv is SO big...it's a 24"). My parents bought me my own VCR before that for Christmas. I had it hooked up to the trailer's tv (a like 9" tv or something, who knows). Then I bought a 2nd vcr so I could dub videos without having to disconnect one of my parents VCRs. Somewhere in there I bought a stereo system. I'm making myself sick thinking of all the things I've bought.
Haha the funniest thing about my tape deck, is back in the day, I used to have a FAQ that stated I used a Pioneer CT-W606DR for my tape dubs. I was such a dork.
Holy shit, forget it, I'm holding onto my tape deck because it's selling for 177 bucks on eBay. If I ever need a tape deck, I'll know at least I have a good one. Stashed in a closet.
Today I only worked an hour and a half. Therefore, I had some free time. I went to the post office and then to Marshalls to find more work clothes. While I went with the intention of finding some more shirts, I walked in thinking, "Man, I really wish I could find pants." Look in the pants...and find some Express Editor pants (really kickass pants if you ask me) for $14.99. I love buying cheap Express shit at Marshalls and TJs! Woo woo! I left Marshalls to go to Whole Foods to get some lemonade (their store brand lemonade in 1/2 gallon milk cartons is pretty good). Dropped my groceries off at home and took off for crap city (aka Roseville) to go to Marshalls there. What a complete waste of time. They had nothing. Boooooo. So I stopped off at another TJ Maxx and Marshalls on my way home and scored more clothes...a couple of more shirts, a sweater, and a pleated skirt. I'm geeked out. I thought buying professional clothing would be a complete bore...but I am totally loving it. I have been bumming on my style...I guess my style morale needed the conservative boost it is getting! The problem is, I think I might bore people because everything I buy and plan on buying is solid. I'm so not into prints. It is a rare occasion where you catch me in a print. Solids, stripes, polka dots...that's the extent of it.
Today was the Pistons parade. If I were nuts, I could've made it there. But I wouldn't have seen shit. Plus, as proud as I am of the Pistons, I never watched any games...cept the last two. So it would be really lame of me to go to that parade. I was definitely geeked out at the 2002 Red Wings parade. That was a fun parade, that's for sure. Even though I recall the weather being so-so and chilly. Today the weather was so-so but humid. I am digging the humidity...it's giving my hair some pizazz. I'm serious. Not in a bad way, I think, in a good way.
