Carolina left for the Air Canada Centre early...so she could go wait in line with her friend...Ryan and I slept in until something crazy like 11 or 12. I hate sleeping in. Anyhow...Carolina's mom forced us to eat something...and I had some yogurt...and we were on our way. The line up was not too long at the time we got to the venue...and I just plopped my butt down by Chuck and Mike in line. Everyone seemed so beat. The drive from Montreal to Toronto was not a good one...
Sarah was very generous and she shared her fanclub ticket with me...and I got to sit in the center section of the floor, row 19. Very nice. After Carolina's friend scored Carolina and herself some nice 1st row on Mike's (er, Jeff's) side tickets...the four of us departed towards the subway station to find some decent priced food to eat. We ended up finding a mall and eating Burger King (by the end of the Canada shows, I had fries coming out my nose). We then headed back to the box office area...where merchandise was getting set up. I then called my mom...and that is when she told me my Grandpa Gates had died. I was sad, of course...but there's a lot of bullshit politics on my dad's side of the family...and I was not close to them at all (not by my choice, their choice)...so besides the fact they lived in Florida...they impacted my life hardly at all. This caused some problems though because my dad was flying out the next day and my mom wanted me to go to the airport with her to drop him off and yada yada yada...so it changed plans for the next day...but we got through it ok.
I then purchased myself some socks...woo hoo! Only 12 dollars Canadian...I beat the system! With the exchange rate, the socks were cheaper...haha...
Somehow, everyone kind of got separated, so Sarah and I went in together...went to our seats...and then saw that Carolina and Ryan were in their seats...so we headed over that way to talk and bullshit.
Even though...technically, you really aren't supposed to see shit from 19th row...someone was on my side and shoved lots of short people in front of me, so I had a decent view all night. I don't think Sarah lucked out so much...but the seat was excellent (thanks Sarah!).
They opened with Sometimes...a great opener...but not used often enough in my opinion. It's a beautiful little diddy. The three "I" songs...Insignificance, Immortality, and Indifference...affected me a lot that night. Baba O'Riley was excellent. I still think it was better than the Chicago version (more on that later)...but it was great...I could hardly understand the mumble jumble Ed said...but it sounded like they would be recording the Chicago Baba for release...and this was practice...who knows...I'm curious to see if either of them pop up on the cd...
