Everyone rose on the late side at Chris' Pearl Jam Crashing Pad. I am weird and like to wake up early regardless, so I think I was up around 9...so I hopped in the shower...first dibs! Chris was up, but chilling in his room with his dogs...then Luke and Ed woke and showered...so then the four of us headed off to K-Mart to pick up some healthy treats. LOL.
We hit the road eventually...Scott Kaufman and his wife arrived...and so we had a nice caravan of cars going (was it three or four cars? regardless, it was nutty). The whole caravan followed Chris' Jeep to pick up Chris' old best friend from high school. It would be his first show. I think we were all kind of tired still from the night before so the ride to the venue was kind of uneventful.
We all had seats...so we didn't need to worry about the box office game that day...but since my seat was not so great, I ended up getting a NICE seat from Ed (thanks Ed!) and got to sit next to Luke. No one was really there before Sonic Youth's set...like it was way emptier than the night prior. I had a feeling...and that feeling was right...
Luke and I spotted Ed scoping things out backstage...looking into the crowd...we were just crossing our fingers that all our pals got to their places in time to see this pre-show deal.
Ed came out and people rushed to the front...I stayed in my row, but went more central. It was perfect! I probably looked like a doofus, b/c I was the only one in my area...everyone was at least six or ten rows ahead of me...but I stayed in my spot...perfectly eye-level with the Edster.
I had the fortune of...prior to this show...listening to Ed's solo pre-sets from 06.18.00 and 06.28.00...so I did get to hear how Ed's solo version of Parting Ways sounded...yeah...I'm a cheater. But nothing...as we all know...can compare to seeing/hearing these songs in realtime...Parting Ways just was so incredible and awesome! I mean, Dead Man was great, but I was over the magnificence of it since I got to see it in Jones Beach...so Parting Ways really impacted me that night.
Typical Binaural opener, Of The Girl...which...to me...is making some of these shows. Of the Girl is a great opener...and I really like getting it as one.
The guys put a seal on their Singles performance by playing State of Love and Trust. Of course, it's no Breath, but kickass nevertheless. We finally got a little FAITHFULL. Woo hoo! It was good to hear Rival as well...I wish they would throw it into the mix a little more than they have been...
Now...Soon Forget...hard to forget! Ed fucked it up for a record THREE times:-) He eventually blamed it on all the boobies...breaking his concentration. Seriously gals...this is Pearl Jam...the nerdiest band around;-)
Footsteps! Porch! Baba! What else can be said?!? This was a great show to be my 20th...as well as my last for Leg One...
