TGIF! Or...more like...thank goodness it's the weekend! Yee haw!
I took a half day today. I needed it: this was a really crazy week at work. I'm alright with crazy...but when it all died down, I was like...ok, this unsettling, I am going to go work on my condo.
I arrived at my place to see that my dad and ma had painted the bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom...awesome...the kitchen...four stars! The color looks GREAT! I can not wait to get the cabinets up (we put the light fixtures up this week and they look fantastic).
I so need a haircut. I don't really "need" one...but it's been a couple of months. I hate my hair. It's in some...limbo stage. I don't know what the hell I want to do with it. I hate NOT having bangs, though. I look at pictures of myself with no bangs and I'm like, "ew." My bangs are really grown out now...and my issue is the girl that usually cuts my hair doesn't GET that I want bigger bang action than she's been giving me. I don't want to pay 50 bucks for a stupid trim and bang job...so I'm at a loss. I did buy hair dye last weekend (on clearance at Target...have I ever mentioned how much I love that store...LOL)..."Apricot Nector." Whatever that means. It's a "medium copper blonde." I'm leaning more towards the red look these days...but not ready to go back to having dark hair like I had when I was younger. I tell ya...I'm looking at the color options on the L'Oreal website (the Couleur Experte line)...and they have some beautiful brown shades going on.
Dunno when I'm gonna get my hair dyed. Dunno when I'm going to get a haircut. I wish I had a friend that did hair. So I get my hairdid for cheap.
I am a dork because I bought the "true tone" off the Cingular website last night of Dissident...it's sweet, though, because it has no vocals and it's just the intro to the song...which is like a total "HELL YEAH!" everytime you hear it anyway. Ok, everytime I hear it.
I finally finished reading All Our Yesterdays this evening. The last chapter was great...it mentions about how "some day when we land on the moon" and then talks about the potential downfall of Detroit in the "future." I love old books! When we land on the moon...
And even though no one is really quite sure if this matters anymore...but DOWNTOWN DETROIT was named as one of the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places 2005 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This is sort of a big deal...because the Trust usually names one particular historic site or one particular building. But no. The whole downtown area of Detroit is in danger. As if it couldn't be exemplified further by pointing out that the Madison-Lenox Hotel was on last year's list...and that was demolished mere weeks ago: it was only the second building to be named on the Trust's list to be demolished... and the ONLY building to be named on their list and knocked down that SAME YEAR. WAY TO GO CITY OF DETROIT! The city is run by a bunch of rocket scientists...with big fucking bling hanging from their ears...
...and then Kwame says he's being dragged down because of his diamonds. WHATEVER. It's not your image (which is a joke, by the way)...I mean, that was the begining part of it. But shit...Free Press headline today: "Kilpatrick slipping with voters: Poll suggests they want anyone but him as mayor after series of scandals". Didn't mention anything about your stupid earrings, Kwams. This is what made me laugh the hardest:
I won't get SUPER picky and talk about the 11% who said he accomplished "downtown development" because I'm wondering where that development is...or the few people that think Kwame is responsible for the Super Bowl coming to Detroit (I distinctly remember watching the pitch video and the mayor in that video looked a hell of a lot like Dennis Archer)...ANYWAY...I just hope Freeman gets elected. I hope the people of Detroit see through Kwame's bullshit. I would think calling that stupid investigative reporter (Steve Wilson) a "fat ass", multiple times, while cameras were rolling would peg him in an unfavorable light...but then again, I'm talking about Detroit here...Asked to name Kilpatrick's biggest accomplishment, 29% of respondents said nothing; 22% said they were undecided or didn't know. Eleven percent said his biggest accomplishment was downtown development; 7% said it was bringing in money and jobs; 5% said he brought the city up. Each of the following categories was named by 3% of respondents as his biggest accomplishment: getting elected, housing, parks and recreation and the Super Bowl.
