Wednesday, March 17th, 2004[Entry 67]so what am i not supposed to say what i'm saying...
Man, I am glad that from the get-go I have not had "faith" in the Renaissance Center reviving retail in downtown Detroit. I ventured there today with my mom, sister, and Aaron. It was my first time in the Ren Cen since my freshmen year in college. I went in there on a scavenger hunt during my orientation thingy and then again I snuck into one of the towers with some kids from my studio to get some shots of the city from the elevator (as the Ren Cen is the tallest building in the city and sits on the riverfront, so you get a great view of the city from it). They were just starting renovations the last time I was there. It was kind of cool to check it out as GM HQ and everything. I didn't spot a single person without a GM badge/tag. I did come to the conclusion that it's a good thing GM bought the Ren Cen...because it IS INDEED a piece of shit! If I designed that building, I would hang my head in shame. Besides the fact that GM has had to remodel the exterior to make it accessable from the street (it used to be a total fortress)...the interior is such shit. SHIT. PURE SHIT. There is retail within the building. TRY FINDING IT! You have to look around concrete...and more concrete...and in random places. I have even more respect for GM for wasting their money on the Ren Cen. Again, what a horrible building. HORRIBLE.
I didn't take any pictures while I was downtown because...well, it snowed yesterday. I think snow is bullshit and I certainly do not want any snow in any of my pictures for my project. Hopefully the weather will improve next week and I can venture downtown after class or something.
Later, I went to eat with Rich and then we went to Best Buy because he broked (yes, broked) his video camera at Pop Concert. After Rich gave his camera to the service guy, he started talking to the Fast and the Furious and the 2 Fast 2 Furious DVDs. It was funny.
Ok, I have a confession to make.
I've actually watched a couple of episodes of American Idol this season. I am not caught up in it---by any means. I know no one's name (except the girl that got cut tonight, Leah whateverherlastnameis). I still think it's the dumbest show on tv. And perhaps some of these people are really wonderful singers...but sometimes...it's hard to see that when all they sing is other people's songs. The highest tonight, however, was the Clay Aiken appearance. No one in my family likes him. My dad, however, despises the guy. He claims he has to hear him "all day" at work. So when Clay came on and we heard my dad coming up the steps, we turned the volume up really loud. He stood there just tsking Clay and bashing him. My brother's plan for this weekend is to blast Clay Aiken in the basement as my dad paints. It will make my dad VERY HAPPY. Anyway, the only good thing about the show is that once in awhile, someone will sing a song (and usually hack it) and you remember it exists and you're like...hell yeah, I need to download that. Anyway, some girl sang Son of a Preacher Man and I was like...yeah...I should download that. Man, what a sexy song. It's amazing how timeless some songs are.Haha speaking of downloading songs...my little brother has a pretty decent idea of what horrible songs I download (and listen to). Usually, I keep it on the DL, but I let it slide when he was in my room a couple of days ago and a new song would come on and he'd look at me like he'd lost all faith in me. So after that, he now "watches" himself when bashing artists in fear that I have some song of their's downloaded. The thing is...I know the shit I listen to is bad. I make fun of it. AND I listen to it (Bob knows what I'm talking about, yo, he likes some crappy music, too!). So what...I think Michelle Branch is a dumb twathead...but I still know all the lyrics to Breathe. Sue me. It kind of sucks in the summertime when I have my windows down and sunroof open and I approach a stoplight...I have to turn my music down so people don't laugh at me.
Oh yeah! Me, Bob, and Rich are gonna go see Chingy and Christina Aguilera this summer! Woo woo! DTE baby! Bob may not know it, but we are so going. Fuck yeah!

SHIT! I almost forgot the most exciting news ever! My sister found out tonight that our high school English teacher's brother was in the first two episodes of the third season of Six Feet Under! Isn't that exciting?!? ;-)
