Wednesday, October 12th, 2005[Entry 402]don't compromise what's gold...
I need to do an entry. Though I used up the time I was allocating for an entry to catch up on The Adam Corolla Project. I think the show is great...I watch a lot of home improvement-type shows...and this is certainly the only show I laugh out loud at. I am so strange...I watched America's Next Top Model...and right after that...The Adam Corolla Project. Girly. Manly. Girly. Manly.
So today...in talk radio land...
- Howard Stern mentioned the whole Gregg getting fired from 97.1. Pretty interesting.
- They were going all apeshit about today's Oprah. Making it seem like there was an entire episode dedicated to poverty in Detroit...and it was "shocking."So I watch the Oprah episode this evening and left very disapointed. Ok, yeah, I guess it's "great" that Oprah is drawing attention to the poverty in this country (and the fact that Detroit is the poorest city in America)...but I dunno. I wasn't "shocked" at anything they showed. It was all sad. But it wasn't shocking. Maybe it's because I've seen this Detroit shit constantly. You think downtown Detroit is bad? Go to the neighborhoods. Then you tell me about bad. Anyway...they profiled homeless people in Detroit. I don't know...I think there should have paid some attention to the overall condition of Detroit neighborhoods. I could go on and on for days...so I will stop now so I won't do that. But it's a horrible situation: you have 1/2 the city at or below the poverty line...yet really, how can these people rise above? The school system is wack. The unemployment rate in the area is insane. Bad news all around.
The only thing I am hoping is that this negative press about the poverty in Detroit helps chase Mr. Kilpatrick out of office. Not to say he is the reason Detroit is the way it is...but he's certainly not helping the situation.
ANYWAY...
It smelled like fall today: wet leaves. That is the smell of fall. Yep.
