Thursday, August 25th, 2005[Entry 378]i'd buy everything...
clean out vivienne westwood in my galliano gown...My neighbor has been in the hospital for about two weeks. My parents found out today that he isn't going to last much longer. Makes me sad because I've known him practically my whole life (since the age of 2) and he was such a nice old man. I guess things are so grim, they went to take his suit to the funeral home (which I find gruesome because he's still alive---can't that wait?). When we were little, he and his wife would bring us special treats on holidays. The first time I stayed home alone while my family went on vacation, he brought me over pizza AND watermelon. That's the kind of guy he was: he would share seasonal fruit with my parents.
Today we went to Shield's at lunchtime. When we got our check, I discovered I had no wallet! I don't lose things. Seriously. I just don't lose things. Then I remembered that I bought Six Feet Under Season 4 last night (online, duh)...but usually I am pretty good about putting my wallet back in my purse when I'm done with online transactions. Lauren covered for me. Phew. Anyway, I discovered my wallet halfway underneath my entertainment center. I guess I made a half-ass attempt at putting my wallet back in its place. Must've tossed it on my purse, lifted my purse and the wallet fell off. Such an idiot.
Detroit Blog has a great write up about Washington Boulevard. And sorry to bore you two journal entries in a row with Detroit thoughts... but this is just another example of how much things have changed in Detroit (and I think a lot of instances of change on Washington are not good changes...AHEM STATLER DEMOLITION). But I have such fond memories of the old Washington Boulevard. Drawing in the David Whitney Building...riding a scary elevator up 12 or so flights to get to the only functioning ladies bathroom...only to discover the elevator wouldn't pick us up to go back down...so we had to take the stairs. The only reason we were allowed in the building is because our teachers got permission from MGM Grand (they were using the building for training). And then when Jason killed a pigeon on the street...in one of the nice little areas to sit and relax. I was so angry; he fed a pigeon a Combo and then as the pigeon started eating it, he stomped on it's neck/head, killing it. Poor little pigeon on Washington Boulevard. I also remember sitting on Washington Boulevard. Alone. Not wanting to draw. At all. And drawing the most gawdawful drawings of buildings ever.
So glad tomorrow is Friday! Lots to do this weekend, though. Just piddly shit. Like a ton of a laundry. Wait for the cable guy to come and bring me the stupid DVR I should've had a month ago.
I also want to make cookies this weekend. Not from scratch...yeah right. My sister bought some Betty Crocker peanut butter cookies awhile ago and she made them (vegan of, course)...but they were actually pretty good (vegan). They were on sale at Meijer this week so I picked up a package of the mix. I could maybe even buy some Hershey Kisses and make some half-ass Hershey Kiss cookies. Whatever the real name is...I don't care.
