Sunday, December 26th, 2004[Entry 246]don't feel sorry for her...
I wasn't going to do a rundown of gifts this year...but I think it's good for me to put that info in my journal...because I am quite forgetful. I have looked at old journal entries before and been like, "Oh yeah! I forgot so and so got me that for Christmas!"
I was blessed with...a subscription to Archie AND Jughead Double Digests (from my bro), the first and second season of (giggle) Jem on DVD (from my sister and Aaron), a new pair of slippers, two tubs of Dirty Girl Peaches and Cream lotion (best lotion ever), lots of pretty smelling candles, a book entirely devoted to the stiletto, 2005 Detroit Then & Now calendar, two pairs of pajama pants, a sweater, pink slippers, a yummy brown throw blanket, Quantum Leap season 2 DVDs, a leather wrapped jewelry box that is the most beautiful color (a mix between lavendar and pink), and some cashola. I think I got everything. Oh, and a cute little teeny stuffed moose.
Today I was bad and went to TJ Maxx and Marshall's with my mom. We were going to go to Target...but holy crap...there wasn't a single empty parking spot within a mile. We ended up skipping Target because we weren't in dire need of anything. Both TJ's and Marshall's were picked over...but they were not crazy busy, which was good. At Marshall's, I found a beautiful pair of BCBG stilettos (talk about "speaking of [stilettos]") in the coolest coraly-pink color. They were on clearance. I tried them on and they looked so good with jeans. The shape...so good. So good. So good! But I was "good" and put them back on the rack. "NO SPENDING JESSICA!" Then I made the mistake of showing them to my mom...who has a tendancy to either help talk me out of buying things or help talk me into buying things. Today she was opting for the "buy it" spiel. After asking if they would look good with my dark brown Editor pants, I grabbed them back off the shelf and said, "Damn it. And they'll look good with khaki and they'll look good with black..." I am guilty, guilty, guilty. This, my friends, is WHY I have been avoiding stores like the plague. I'm never actively seeking things...I've learned to assess my shopping style, patterns, and habits. If I seek something because I "need" it...I can never find it. However, I do not run across things I want to buy everytime I shop...because I am looking for things that stick out...that "wow" me. So when I find these things that "wow" me...I "have" to buy them. The best way to avoid that happening, though, is to stay out of stores.
At least when I get the second season of The Sopranos to watch...I won't be shopping. I tell you, I'm going through serious withdrawl...I need to see more Sopranos. Need to! HBO is the devil.
Went with my parents to eat Buddy's tonight. Mmm, good.
I hate doing laundry in the winter time. I wash all my clothes in cold water and then hang dry them. Taking them out of the washer and putting them on a hanger is very torturous. Cold, wet clothes suck.
