[Entry 171]
<<||>>

i hope you understand...

Oh my gosh does my ass hurt. It's clue to me that I need to walk more and I am definitely way more out of shape now than I was when I was in school (which is horrible considering I wasn't in shape even when I was in school). I don't get it though, I've been using the eliptical pretty faithfully, and it never makes my ass hurt. Why is that? My butt hurts because I walked yesterday.

Lauren from work invited me to a party at a law firm that one of her roommates works at. The firm is on Woodward...so it was a Dream Cruise party. So after I got off work, I went home, chilled, and then went to Lauren's house. She lives two blocks west of downtown R.O. The house she lives in is really cool. So we went to the party. And it was nice...tons of food...but it was lots of families and older people. We downed a glass of wine. And then we left because there wasn't much happening. We then walked to downtown Royal Oak and ran into Sole Sisters, Incognito, and Moda (? I think that's the name of that new clothing store). We found nothing. Well, we found stuff we liked in Sole SIsters, but it was too expensive to buy to not be a necessity. Eventually we found ourselves at Pronto (a restaurant/bar that a relative of my mother's actually half owns). Everyone rants about that place and I haven't eaten there since I Was a kid. I got a three cheese pizza...and ew. It had no sauce on it. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT LATELY?!? Pizza is NOT pizza if it doesn't have sauce! At least the peanut butter chocolate brownie I bought there made up for it. Their desserts there---top notch.

We found our way into a small record store. I had never been in. I'd given up hope on "cool" record stores when I was still in my teens and when all the "cool" record stores in downtown Royal Oak closed. This store, however, brought both me and Lauren back into fifteen-dom. They had shitloads of $1 vinyl. Lauren bought a record for her younger brother...and I bought a record for my little brother (Tony Orlando and Dawn's Greatest Hits). They also had tons of old rock magazines (some from the 70s!) for $1! I bought two of those and Lauren bought two of those. It was like 9:30 on a Friday night. She and I are the only customers in the store, and we're actually sitting on the floor (! yeah, I know) looking through piles of old rock magazines. It was great!

Eventually we made our way to the basement of Bastones. Which is a cool little basement bar that recently opened. I tried a Cosmo...and while it tasted alright, I just can't get past the taste of the alcohol. I think alcohol is so disgusting. I forced myself to drink it while I thought the insides of my throat were going to burn away. Of course, just one drink can get me a little giddy. We were not impressed with the boys hanging out down in the bar. At. All. Sloppy dressers. And those who weren't sloppy, were way too preppy for our tastes. So we left and walked back to her house, taking an alley shortcut...which was way creepy but we were both kinda buzzed so it was funny at the same time. Then we just hung out and flipped through our awesomely musty smelling magazines. All in all, it was a fun time. Lauren's really cool.

Well, pulled more Toledo tickets this morning. And now I'm all set. 12th row...probably won't see much, but I'm THERE and that's what counts. I also finalized (last night) while I was out that I will certainly try to do Reading to the best of my ability. I just have to clear with my boss first. But I don't think that is going to be a problem.

Anyway, this evening, in the car, the window cracked open...listening to music on my iPod...the breeze felt wonderful...and a big smile went across my face...pretty soon, I'll be on the road again. I love...the road...
