Friday, January 9th, 2004[Entry 18]we drink wine with diamonds in the glass...
Yesterday was jam-packed. I'm yawning just thinking about it. I finally got home last night and I was in a zombie-state. But I couldn't go to sleep because I "had" to watch Extreme Makeover.
I woke up relatively early and got ready. Called my grandma to see if she needed any other groceries besides bread and milk. She said "no" but I am sure she was lying. I left my house and stopped in Farmer Jack to get her bread and milk. When I got to her house, there were cat prints all in the snow. No human prints, just cat prints...it was cute. Three cats were on her porch, including Jewish. Three seconds after I unloaded my car, my grandma asks if I want to make money. I just say "yes" even though I hate taking her money and really did not want to know what she wanted me to do. There's some guy in my grandma's neighborhood that is, well, a low-life, and will do shit around her yard for her...and he didn't show up yesterday to shovel the three centimeters of snow on the sidewalk...so she wanted me to do it. Obviously it was not hard to do...but I hate the existance of the shovel. Most of the people in my neighborhood have snowblowers...but considering the loudness/annoyance of both the shovel and the snowblower...too damn loud. But a shovel scraping against the cement...I swear, I thought one of her neighbors was going to come out and shoot me and tell me to shut the fuck up. When I was done, I combed my grandma's cat and then took off.
Got home in time to call Erin. We had made plans the night before to go to lunch. Had no idea where to go. I just decided downtown Royal Oak was best to go to. Ended up eating Goombah's. It was good...but eh, I'm thinking Shield's, Niki's, and Buddy's (off of 6 Mile) make the best pizza in the area. I think I just ruined Goombah's for myself by eating there too much. After eating, we walked down to Incognito because thoughts of sales are driving me nuts...I have to check that shit out. There was really nothing. I knew there probably wouldn't be. All their Diesel tennis shoes were 50% off, though. But I already have two pair and don't really need a third at this time. I did scope out the spring stuff...and I like it a lot...even though there wasn't much there.
Before I had gone out to eat, my mom had called to tell me she was getting her haircut after work. It hit me that I've been itching to get my eyebrows shaped so I asked if the salon she goes to does it...and they do, so she set me up an appointment. So about 45 minutes after Erin left my house, I took off to go get my eyebrows "did." So much fun. My new favorite luxury. Especially since it's relatively inexpensive. Though my mommy was nice and treated me.
I was supposed to go down to my sister's and pick her up and go to Fairlane. I finally got in touch with her about 30 minutes after leaving the salon. Took off for her place...and encountered a traffic slowdown on 75 at 8 Mile. Some car was stopped in the 2nd lane. Say what? It was crazy. Got down to campus, parked my car and ran into one of the bookstores to buy my one last book (that I will be returning because I did indeed find it cheaper online)...I hate paperback workbooks that cost $58. That is just STUPID. After the bookstore, I went and picked up Gen and Aaron and went to Fairlane. Only I took Warren all the way because we all knew 94 would be a bitch because it was 5:00.
I was armed with money from my Grandma from Christmas. I was gonna spend it on shit! Yeah! Diesel store and Forever 21...how could I walk out of Fairlane empty handed?!? Well I guess it was much easier to do than I expected...
First, we went to the Diesel store...which is always first on my list because if I find something there first...I know I haven't already spent a chunk of change elsewhere. Most stuff was 30% off...which is not holy wowza or anything. Gen and Aaron had never been to the Diesel store before. First thing she does is send Aaron into the dressing room to try on jeans. Aaron ended up leaving that place with two pairs of Diesel pants (pair of jeans, pair of pants). The jeans looked SO good! It was amazing how thin they made him look and they made him look so tall. This has me convinced that every guy should indeed own a pair of Diesel jeans. It is worth the investment. I found a gorgeous shirt. It was on sale for $55 and was made entirely out of nylon. It was really cool...but I didn't want to spend $55 on one shirt. So I tried it on. Looked REALLY good...but...it was a v-neck that tied at the bottom of the v. Ok, fine? Well, underneath where the ties laid...there was an open circle. The ties covered it...but if you moved a little too much...your bra would totally show. If it were $25, I would buy it...but to spend $55 to look kinda WT with a bra showing...eh, no.
Then we ventured to Forever 21...which really had nothing. I guess due to inventory. Bah on that. Then we went to Wet Seal because my sister likes that place. I, however, do not. I think Wet Seal is a lame version of Forever 21 but their clothing costs 3 times as much. I'm really opposed to store brands (like the Gap, Express, Banana Republic, Wet Seal, etc.) that charge a lot for their store brand clothing. Call me silly, but I would rather spend $40 on a DKNY shirt than a $40 Gap shirt (even though I will not spend $40 on DKNY). Store brands are supposed to save you money...not cost as much as certain designer brands. It's stupid.
I went to get Dairy Queen (as I usually do when I go to Fairlane) after a horrid trip to Charlotte Russe. The only other time I have been in Charlotte Russe is in that one mall me and my PJ peeps went into in Cleveland. I left that Charlotte Russe promptly because it was like a bomb went off and the layout...the colors...screamed at me to "go!" It was the same deal at this Charlotte Russe. Conclusion: Charlotte Russe sucks donkey dick. As I was getting my DQ, Aaron and Genny started asking where they could get Aaron "nice' t-shirts. And I was confused as to what the hell they were talking about. In general, the word "t-shirt" doesn't really give me that idea of "nice." Not to say t-shirts are horrible...but if you're trying to dress a little more professional...sophisticated...t-shirts are not "nice" for that. Anyway, I looked over at Express and said, "Just go into Express Men, there's sales going on, check it out." Aaron spent a boatload there, but he got some nice stuff. So it was entertaining...my sister and I did not buy a thing. Aaron, however, who was not even originally going to come with us...spent a load of cash on clothes. Tee hee.
When we got back to their apartment, I went up so I could get some German books from my sister so I can try to refresh this weekend (I've been trying to "refresh" for the past two weeks but she always forgets to bring the books here or give them to my parents). She gave me like five books to look at. I asked for computer programs and she has those, too. Haha, I'm scared. But speaking of German, I am so happy she's not majoring in it anymore.
Fast forward to 4:30am this morning. I'm sleeping. But I'm awoken by that infamous stuffy-purring of Rory's. For some reason, she decided to sit right next to my head, and purr her ass off. Eventually she moved near my legs and went to sleep...until Phantom jumped on the bed and started attacking/playing with her. DAMN CATS! And since I was woken up...I noticed my one leg ached badly...and ended up keeping me awake for another hour. And today, since Rory keeps sneaking onto my ledge where all my make-up and hair stuff is...and stealing barrettes...she is sort of on my shitlist. Even though she's so damn cute, it's hard to stay mad at her.
Today the plan is for my mom and I to venture to the same TJ Maxx and Marshall's we ventured to two days ago to do some exchanges and purchases for things we either did buy or wished we did. Silly, we are.
